What Is Insomnia?
Insomnia is an inability to fall asleep and/or remain asleep for 6-8 hours per night. It’s an exasperating condition, as the mind continues to race, often about the patient’s own lack of sleep, further exacerbating the original problem. We’ve all experienced sleeplessness as a natural result of excitement or important life events, but unfortunately, millions of people have chronic insomnia, seemingly disconnected from any life events, but nonetheless insidious and recurring.
What Are The Symptoms of Insomnia?
Symptoms of insomnia include difficulty falling asleep, difficulty finding a comfortable sleeping position, waking during the night and being unable to return to sleep, feeling un-refreshed upon waking, daytime irritability or even anxiety. The lack of sleep appears to have a cumulative effect on most people, gradually growing worse, and exhibiting more and more acute symptoms of sleeplessness.
Is There a Root Cause for Insomnia?
Several things can contribute to chronic sleeplessness, and that’s part of the problem. Since so many different things can disrupt our fairly tentative sleep cycles, it’s a difficult problem to address. Many people suffering from insomnia will resort to prescription or even illegal drug remedies, and this surely leads to higher rates of mortality than people who avoid drugs.
Is There Anything Natural That Can Be Done For Insomnia?
Yes, but it needs to be clear that supplements will not cure or treat the root cause of your insomnia, but simply support your body nutritionally, and help it achieve a state of sleep-readiness. This protocol is aimed at calming the brain enough that it can fall asleep as naturally as it did in your childhood. It will quiet the mind and rest the body without side effects or hangover.
