Signs and symptoms vary between people and may include irritability, muscle weakness, sleeping problems, a fast heartbeat, poor tolerance of heat, diarrhea, enlargement of the thyroid, and weight loss. This is the result of a thyroid gland producing too much thyroid hormone because the receptors for thyroxine are being filled with faux hormones coming from the gut microbiome. So your hypothalamus/pituitary/thyroid feedback mechanism reports that you do not have enough thyroxine and your thyroid goes crazy producing more and more. To fix the REASON your thyroid is producing too much hormone you need to fix your gut. We recommend you do the GAPS cleansing and rebuilding protocol before starting this protocol. But this protocol will helpful in bringing the thyroid back into balance and support it’s rebuilding even if you don’t do the GAPS diet first. Listen to a few of our podcasts (we have many) on GAPS. Start here -->¬† GAPS Quick and Easy if you would like. Then type GAPS into the search bar at the top right of our home screen to listen to more.
