What is Achlorhydria?
Achlorhydria is a condition where your stomach is not producing enough hydrochloric acid to properly digest foods. It can occur naturally because of severe stomach malfunction and even severe dehydration. However, it is often brought on by choice, as more and more people take the drastic step of suppressing acid production through the use of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) to treat temporary symptoms of heartburn and indigestion. A recent blog post on Achlorhydria goes into more detail, but sufficed to say, it’s bad news, and usually totally avoidable!
What Are The Symptoms of Achlorhydria?
Achlorhydria can create short-term problems such as esophageal reflux and heart burn (oh the irony!), indigestion, nausea and bad breath. But more seriously, once the body is not properly digesting nutrients and proteins, your body is being malnourished to one degree or other with dire long-term consequences.
Are There Natural Supplements For Achlorhydia?
Whole food concentrates can play a role in alleviating or eliminating the symptoms of Achlorhydria.
