We live in an incredibly high paced society.

Our lifestyle demands instant everything. Instant results, instant gratification, instant healing. (And also… instant food!)

While we are able to achieve and have so much more than ever before, the lack of proper nourishment (i.e. real food) has taken away our body’s own ability to heal.

This is why exhaustion, depression, anxiety, heartburn, hypothyroid, hyperthyroid, infertility, diabetes, skin diseases, cancer, and autism are exploding.

You were born with an amazing ability to self heal, but chances are that modern lifestyle and its resulting malnutrition has put that ability on the “deep freeze”.

There are millions of processes taking place in your body every second. Modern medicine is still in the early days of understanding everything that comes so naturally to us.

But these processes cannot happen without two things:

– The building blocks the body needs (nourishment)
– The ability to utilize these building blocks (digestion)

GAPS diet restores both, allowing your body to better digest food and absorb nutrients so it can rebuild, heal, get rid of toxins, and fight disease.

If you want to build a house, having the best building materials in the world isn’t enough. You will still need skilled builders who can use those materials properly.

It’s the same for your body. We need to restore its innate ability to utilize the building blocks to rebuild and cleanse itself.

The first phase of GAPS is all about helping your body reboot, and start over.

By slowly introducing yummy foods into your body, you will allow it to rebuild, heal, overcome allergies, fatigue and digestive problems that may have plagued you for years.

Traditionally, this rebuilding phase (sometimes referred to as “introductory phase”) would take up to two years to complete. Today, using the incredible GAPS protocol we have developed and enzyme supplements like LEE Enzymes, we have seen many patients complete this phase in under three weeks!

[cs_text]Once you complete the first phase of the GAPS diet, you move on to phase two.

Just like the analogy of building a house, in phase two – you have skilled builders (your rebooted body), and now you simply keep the good nourishment coming.

You’ll now be able to eat almost everything you’ve been eating before GAPS, and enjoy a longer, healthier and more enjoyable lifestyle.

In fact, you may be eating more foods than ever before – as most people who go through the first phase of GAPS find that many of their life-long food allergies have disappeared!

You can stay on the second phase of GAPS diet for as long as you want. It’s a “maintenance” phase – where your body keeps healing as long as you keep providing nourishment.

Over the years, GAPS has been shown to reduce, manage, and relieve the symptoms relating to:

  • ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia, and other learning disabilities
  • Autism
  • Dyspraxia (clumsiness)
  • Acid reflux
  • Heartburn
  • Bloating / Gas
  • Asthma
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Type-1 diabetes
  • Chronic cystitis (bladder infection)
  • Colic
  • Eczema
  • Seborrheic Dermatitis
  • Crohn
  • Celiac
  • Psoriasis
  • Heart conditions
  • and many other conditions

Simply put, if you are a citizen of planet Earth, living in a western society, you can probably benefit from GAPS.

Gut and Psychology SyndromeThe first GAPS protocol was created by neurosurgeon Natasha Campbell-McBride, MD when she was researching the relationship between an imbalanced gut ecosystem to neurological symptoms.

In her research (and later, book) she coined this relationship ‘Gut and Psychology Syndrome’, or GAPS.

Today we know that gut imbalance can cause many symptoms beyond the neurological ones that Dr. McBride originally researched (see updated symptoms list above), but the name, “GAPS”, remains.

If you are ready to try GAPS, we have a fantastic podcast episode explaining it in detail, and we now have 6 different variations of our GAPS protocols for adults and children at varying levels of supplementation.
