How Do I Know Which Supplements I Actually Need?

Alfalfa in flower - whole-food nutrition starts with the plant

Dr. Jack Stockwell, DC |

The short answer: don't guess — listen. The most reliable way to choose supplements is to start from how you actually feel (energy, digestion, sleep, mood) and identify which body systems are asking for support. That's exactly what our free 10-minute nutritional assessment was built to do — over 200 plain questions, no cost, used by Dr. Jack Stockwell's clinic for years.

Why guessing at supplements doesn't work

Walking a supplement aisle without a plan usually ends one of two ways: a cabinet of half-used bottles, or one "multi" that tries to do everything and targets nothing. The body isn't a single system — the thyroid, gut, heart, immune system, and adrenals each have their own nutritional needs.* Support the right system and you're no longer guessing.

Three ways to find your starting point

1. Take the free assessment (10 minutes)

The nutritional assessment asks how you actually feel — questions about energy through the day, how meals sit, how you sleep, how you handle stress. Your answers point to the body systems under the most strain, ranked mild, moderate, or severe. It's free, and it's the same starting point the clinic uses.

2. Start from what's bothering you

If you already know your trouble spot, go straight to it: thyroid & energy, digestion, sleep & stress, heart, immune, bone & joint — or see all fifteen health needs.

3. Talk to a person

Call (866) 867-5070 — a real person answers in Dr. Jack's own office — or book a 30-minute consult. Bring your questions, your history, and your labs; leave with a plan written for you.

How many supplements should I take?

Fewer, chosen well. Most people at the clinic start with support for one or two body systems, give it time, and pay attention to how they feel. Reorder what's working; adjust what isn't. If a protocol has you swallowing a dozen bottles a day with no clear reason for each, something's off.

When should I involve my doctor?

Always keep your physician in the loop, especially if you take prescription medications — and never stop or change a prescription without them. Supplements support normal body function; they don't replace medical care.*
